<b>Chester Arthur Burnett</b> (June 10, 1910 – January 10, 1976), known as <b>Howlin' Wolf</b>, was an influential American blues singer, guitarist and harmonica player. He was born in West Point, Mississippi in an area now known as White Station.<br />
With a booming voice and looming physical presence, Burnett is commonly ranked among the leading performers in electric blues. A number of songs written or popularized by Howlin' Wolf—such as "<a class="mw-redirect" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smokestack_Lightnin%27" title="Smokestack Lightnin'">Smokestack Lightnin'</a>", "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_Door_Man" title="Back Door Man">Back Door Man</a>", "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_Floor_%28Howlin%27_Wolf_song%29" title="Killing Floor (Howlin' Wolf song)">Killing Floor</a>" and "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoonful" title="Spoonful">Spoonful</a>"—have become blues and blues rock standards.<br />

He developed a 'talking blues' style that was his trademark. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own unique genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. His best known songs include "Boogie Chillen'" (1948), "I'm in the Mood" (1951) and "Boom Boom" (1962), the first two reaching R&B #1 in the <i>Billboard</i> charts. This week, we're listening to one of the Bluesmen who pioneered the use of electric guitar in the Blues, Muddy Waters. The song we will be listening to is Hoochie Coochie Man. This song was written by the great Willie Dixon and recorded by Muddy Waters in 1954. It was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1984.<br />
