Welcome to a new term of Listening Assignments! This week, we're listening to one of the Bluesmen who pioneered the use of electric guitar in the Blues, Muddy Waters. The song we will be listening to is Hoochie Coochie Man. This song was written by the great Willie Dixon and recorded by Muddy Waters in 1954. It was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1984.

4)This songs gives me a picture of a man singing at the bar with all the instruments behind him played by his partners. This song also gives me a picture of people working at an auto shop trying to attract the ladies.
5a)Yes, I liked the song.
5b)I liked this song because of the way the vocalist or singer kept taking turns with the instruments like a conversation. The singer would sing and then the instruments play. I also feel like the instruments were played with the right dynamics because you could hear all the instruments and there wasn't an instrument that overplayed or over controlled the song.

This reminds me of bars in like the cowboy days. It feels like Willie Dixon is playing the piano in the background, and Muddy Waters is singing to a small crowd. The harmonica sends of these vibes that just scream, "cowboys!" The guitar/electric guitar reminds me of grundge/sort of vintage bands, where they're in the studio, hanging out and playing random songs.
5a) Do you like this song?
Yes.
5b) Please give a musical reason why or why not?
I love the way the music suddenly stops, and then Muddy Waters starts singing. And I also really like the harmonica. It was leading the whole thing and without it, I bet the whole song would feel like it's missing something.
